We got a puppy!

Not really! You know me better than that. We got a virtual puppy!

So, ever since I got my iPhone, it hasn’t really belonged solely to me. There is at least one entire page of games that I don’t ever play. That page belongs to four year old Sarah, aka Miss Pretty Pretty. Long ago I realized the need to protect the contents of my phone by putting all of her games on one page so that she wouldn’t be getting into trouble by opening up (as many) random apps.

I wanted to review this Cube Dog app to see how Sarah would like it. I downloaded it when she wasn’t around so that I could get the hang of it first in case it was difficult for her to use, I would already know how to help her. This was totally unnecessary. The minute I showed it to her she started touching the screen and had created her own cute puppy in no time at all.
She quickly figured out how to switch between the different sets of eyes, ears, and other body parts. She would switch out the eyes and then show me each one, telling me which emotion they were conveying. “This doggie’s mad, Mommy.”
You can tickle your puppy and pet him and play with him. He even gets hearts in his eyes when he’s especially happy. The only thing Sarah found a little difficult was making him turn around. I’m sure she'll get the hang of that the next time she plays.

One feature I especially enjoyed is that you can create up to three difference dogs. That meant I didn't have to delete hers if I wanted to make one. This would be great if you have more than one child (or fun grown up) who wants to play with their own special Cube Dog.

The next thing I'll teach Sarah to do is to take pictures of her Cube Dog. You can take a picture with your phone with the pet you've created in the picture! Since Sarah loves to take pictures, I think she'll especially enjoy this feature.

Check out this cute video to see the Cube Dog in action.
